Dayton from the radio towers

I really had to think on this one ....10 places well

1. The above picture is from my favorite spot. We took a trip up to see the remains of the Como mining area just above Dayton. The drive up through those mountains are adventurous to say the least, Lots of switch backs and wrong roads but once you get all the way to the radio towers WOW you can see for miles in either direction. so this one would have to be Number 1 to visit (be careful of the mine shafts tho)

2. If you visit Dayton Nevada you gotta take a walk through our Cemetery now this one may be listed in a brochure some where but it is the oldest maintained Cemetery in the State and you can almost read the stories of the lives of the ones who are buried there just by reading the dates especially in some of the family plots.

3. Take a walk through old town it may take a whole sum of 20 min or so if you walk real slowY you can pick up a walking tour map at the Dayton School house museum the oldest school house still in its original location at shady ln and logan.

4. This is not an ad for anyone but if ya want to stop for a good home cooked tasting meal stop by Terrible's Casino on hwy 50 just past the only stop light in town for great food and great people.

5. Check out the Lucky Horse Stables where our very own horse lover Miss Shirley rescues  wild horses in need.

6. Take a drive out side of town towards fallon and check out the Fort Church hill remains of the old fort.

7, Check out the Sutro Tunnel it was built to provide drainage for the mines and was conceived by Adolph Sutro in 1860

8. You can head towards Carson City and go to dump hill between Dayton and Mound house and take a ride on the V& T Rail way just completed this year from moundhouse to gold hill / virgina city.

9. Take a walk throuh our state park it dont look like much from the highway but if you go on inside you can find beautiful walking trails along the river and a nice place to have a picnic lunch if it pleases you.

10. This has been a hard one never thought of the places to see just go and see them but I can not think of any more right now But you can stop by the Stor-All in Dayton and meet some of the friendlies folks in town Myself and My husband Carl who is also the Local Santa Clause....
